We are pleased to welcome you to the 2025 MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre Annual Meeting will take place on Wednesday 26th March in the Lecture Theatre L2 in the Andrew Wiles Building within the Mathematical Institute.

We will hold our 2025 Annual Meeting at the Mathematical Institute on Wednesday 26th March. Centre members, industry partners, and two keynote speakers will present cutting edge research in pre-clinical and clinical research focused on improving the lives of patients with neuromuscular disease. Students and postdocs are encouraged to present a poster, and the day will include ample time for networking with colleagues. This is a FREE event for University members and invited partners in academic, industry, and charity sectors.

The event will start with registration, coffee, and pastries at 08:00. The day’s talks will begin at 8:30 with the morning sessions focused on the future plans of the MDUK ONMC centred around early diagnosis and intervention in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). These sessions will include external academic and industry speakers. The afternoon will include a session focused on motor neurone disease as well as a session featuring internal ONMC speakers. Attendees will have the opportunity to catch up with colleagues as well as peruse and vote on posters during a dedicated drinks and poster reception at 17:00-18:00, and a £500 travel award will be given to the best DPhil and postdoctoral posters. Lunch will be provided.

We are pleased to welcome two important external speakers for the meeting: Prof Emma Ciafaloni, Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Centre and Prof Richard Finkel, George J. Pedersen Endowed Chair in Neurotherapeutics and Director of the Center for Experimental Neurotherapeutics at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Prof Ciafaloni will present on her work in DMD newborn screening, whereas Prof Finkel will cover latest developments in therapies for DMD.
